The Creative Generalist: Embracing Versatility in the Arts
In a world that often prioritizes specialization, the role of the creative generalist is both undervalued and essential. We are the multi-hyphenates, the shapeshifters, the artists who flow seamlessly between disciplines, translating ideas across mediums and industries. Our strength lies in our adaptability, our ability to synthesize knowledge from diverse fields, and our instinct for connecting the dots where others may see only separate pieces.
For me, being a creative generalist has meant navigating a career that spans dance, theater, music, social media, and event production. One day, I might be choreographing for film, the next I’m designing a sensory-driven space for an event, or programming entertainment to fundraiser for a women’s leadership school in Rwanda. This is also my passion which stems from my love of exploring different art forms and subcultures, to value adventure, and my commitment to keeping an open mind about diverse perspectives. Whether working with Broadway performers, launching your new business, or curating a healing arts gathering, I see the throughline: storytelling, experience, and connection.
